Join us for our Denver Drum Clinic with Kowan Turner (Kowan & Company), Terrence Houston (Slugger, George Porter, Toubab Krewe), and Jon Cales (Float Like a Buffalo).
KOWAN TURNER
From an early age, I’ve been captivated by the power of music to transcend boundaries and connect people. My journey began with a deep appreciation for various genres, leading me to experiment and create a unique sound that reflects my diverse influences. Whether it’s through soulful melodies, intricate compositions, or innovative productions, my goal has always been to evoke emotion and inspire listeners.
Kowan & Company : This is my primary band, where we blend a variety of genres to create a unique and captivating sound. Our album, ‘Natural Chemistry,’ is a testament to our dedication and love for music. We’ve poured our hearts into every track, and we can’t wait for you to experience it.
Steady Flow : In this project, I delve into the world of instrumental and electronic music, aiming to create a smooth and engaging auditory journey. Steady Flow is all about the groove and the vibe, perfect for those moments when you just want to sit back and let the music take you away.
Canon: This venture allows me to explore the more experimental and avant-garde side of my musical interests. Canon is a space where creativity knows no bounds, and every piece is an exploration of sound and emotion. It’s a project for those who enjoy pushing the limits of conventional music.
TERRENCE HOUSTON
Terrence “Groove Guardian” Houston is an acclaimed drummer, known for his dynamic and versatile style. A native of Louisiana, he grew up immersed in music, receiving early drum lessons from his uncle and performing in church by age seven. His career spans a variety of genres, with Houston playing for renowned acts like George Porter Jr. & the Runnin’ Pardners, Toubab Krewe, and his own band, Slugger, which blends funk, fusion, and gospel influences. Houston’s innovative rhythms and deep New Orleans roots have made him a standout on the music scene.
JON CALES
Jon Cales is the drummer for Float Like a Buffalo, a high-energy funk-rock band based out of Denver. Cales joined the group in 2023, bringing his rhythmic expertise and dynamic performance style to enhance the band's eclectic sound, which blends funk, ska, reggae, and rock influences. With a background rooted in collaborative musicianship, Jon quickly became an integral part of the group, helping to shape their “party rock funk” vibe that fans love to dance to. His addition has helped propel Float Like a Buffalo’s live performances to new heights, contributing to their reputation as one of Denver's most exciting live acts.
